I circled around four times before noticing the thick lining on the wall. It was painted hot pink and the rest of the wall was white. It wasn’t what I had expected but it was okay. I rolled my eyes but when I turned back to look at my mom, I nodded, conspicuously. I guessed my mom got the idea it wasn’t what I clearly what I wanted but all right, I could live with it. She nodded back, willingly.
“It’s…better than before.” I murmured under my breath.
“Well, you talked us into it so be happy and enjoy your room.”
“Okay, and, is this going to stay like this forever?” my voice slipped away irrevocably.
“It depends and maybe you’ll grow to a full liking.” my mother hissed stressfully.
As soon as she walked out of the room, I moved around to see the hot pink. Deep down, hot pink wasn’t my color but as soon as I would join it with black, I immediately loved it. I would put posters on the wall and make it a wad of sunshine. I felt a smile spread across my face. Posters of my favorite bands and celebrities I enjoyed staring at. Black posters would do the job perfectly well.
I sat on my sheer dark blue bed, full of stars and a night sky. I realized almost instantaneously, the bed sheet color had to go. It didn’t fit the wall color at all but I still loved it. After a minute of thoughts piling up in my head, my conscious told me to shut up about the room and get on with life. I stared at nothing in particular, but a moment later, I remembered tomorrow was the spelling bee. Yes, it sounded a bit nerdy but with the money, I could’ve done a lot of new things with my life like maybe a trip to Hollywood! Also, being a champion was another successful idea on my mind. Popularity was one thing and money was included so basically, the spelling bee would pay-off if my skills were going to be determined tomorrow. I took out my study words and started with the word, league. I went through the list five times before my mom said it was time to sleep so I faded into a dream in a matter of hours. I had dreamed of three kids begging me to let them win the bee but I smiled and ignored them as the tall man handed me a gold trophy. I was given a standing ovation and the other spelling bee losers were shedding into tears as I waved to the crowd.
Back to reality, it was time for school. I wore a black band tee with a purple hoodie and gray tight jeans. Eating breakfast was a must with my family. I sat down throwing my book bag by the shoe closet. My eyes gazed at the bowl of cinnamon toast crunch on a yellow bowl.
“So, today is the spelling bee, isn’t it?” my dad asked.
“Yes and I hope to make it.” I sighed, taking a wad of cereal with my spoon.
“Well, I hope so too. Don’t pout if you don’t make it; it is just a game”
“The spelling bee isn’t a game! You don’t know that? It’s something education-al and I vowed myself to make it this year since it is after all, my last year.” I spoke truthfully, swallowing.
“Yes, and you know only some people make it so don’t be very sure about it,” my dad spoke sternly.
That day at school, people were walking very fast in muzzled expressions so I grew curious. I bumped into my friend Danielle, a close friend from last year. I stopped her in the hallway to ask her what was going on.

“Oh, you didn’t hear?” she blurted.
“What is it?” was all I could say.
“There’s this new girl who’s like…so weird.”
“What is so weird?” I asked, concerned.
“Oh, nothing, she’s a Muslim.”
“Serious? Wow, that’s not that bad…I expected something like major.”
“Is this not major enough?” Danielle shook her head. She walked away after I didn’t say anything for a while. What was wrong with having a Muslim at our school. Big deal. Weren’t they normal people like Americans? I remembered meeting a Jew before and there was nothing awkward about her; except she celebrated Hanukah and that was just a holiday. For a minute, I thought of Danielle. How could she be so negative about a Muslim girl? What was so major about that?

After I heard that this was about race and a muslim. and that popularity would come from spelling bees. I was turned off, its not reality. im sorry. but its not true because youd be a nerd in real life and a muslim isnt a big deal, but u made it sound like it should be.

I am looking for some good songs during the 70′s, 80′s, and 90′s.

For the 70′s, I am looking for more soul, r&b, and disco music like KC and the Sunshine Band, Donna Summer, Stylistics, Al Green etc.

The 80′s I am looking for some r&b, and soul songs also with some pop, like the Prince, Madonna, MJ, New Edition, etc.

The 90′s, more of the early hip hop with the pop, and r&b/soul thing also like Madonna, TLC, BBD (Bell Biv, Devoe), 2 Pac, whoever.

I am open to anything basically, but would prefer what I mentioned. Any suggestions? Just no hard rock like Black Sabbath (nothing against them) or anything like that.

I know that the German flag has three bands of horizontal stripes, which LOOK like black at the top, another color in the middle, and yellow on the bottom.

What are the technical names, for each of the colors?

For example: Is the Yellow, at the bottom “Sunshine Yellow”, “Golden Yellow”, “Butter Yellow”, etc?

Is the black strip called “Basic black”, “Midnight Black”, etc?

What would be the English names of each of the colors of Germany’s federal, national, flag?

To Person- Wow, thanks for the huge list. There are a few that I already love (stones, say anything, daft punk, lennon). A lot of those bands I havent listened to but a lot of my friends do, so ill be sure to check them out first. these include vampire weekend, the yeah yeah yeahs, and never shout never. ill probably sort through all of them tomorrow and see what i like. thanks a bunch.
Nite Owl- I will look at those tomorrow. Never really liked Linkin Park though.
